Entry #4: Testing on animal is inhuman 

          Nowadays, with the development of science, there are so many new things are invented. But before people can use it, the scientists must make sure that those are safe for people. And how they can know or sure about that? it must be tested, but what do they use to test those new products? It cannot be tested on people, so scientist find another solution of this issue that is testing on animal which are have the similar systems as people. Even though there are a lot of benefit in biomedical of testing on animals, but it should be stopped because of the basic right that animals which mean non-human should be received.  This is the truth that none of companies are testing on animals for many purposes such as finding the new curse or want to admit, but they still do this.

          

          The first reason shows that testing on animals is inhuman is animals still are a life. They are born by their parents. People are considered animals, we are just in a higher level. “The consortium found that the chimp and human genomes are very similar and encode very similar proteins. The DNA sequence that can be directly compared between the two genomes is almost 99 percent identical.” What people and scientists are doing is unmoral because we are killing the same kind of our specie. In additional, just imagining like this way and you will understand more about this. Switching the position of people and animals. How about if you are the things is on laboratory and being tested by animals.

          

          The second reason cause testing on animal is inhuman is it is bad science. Scientist use millions of animals including rats, mice and chimpanzee to experiment but then when they got the result, it cannot be used because most of them is not safety for people. That is wasted life. “Currently, nine out of ten experimental drugs fail in clinical studies because we cannot accurately predict how they will behave in people based on laboratory and animal studies,” not all the testing pass on animal can pass on human because they are two different individuals. “The history of cancer research has been a history of curing cancer in the mouse. We have cured mice of cancer for decades, and it simply didn’t work in humans” scientist can cure cancer in mice, but you can see cancer still is a disease that people afraid of, so not all the experimental works on people.

          People grant for themselves a right to use animal in any purpose just because they can speak and think, but who know animals don’t have feeling? Animals cannot scream so you assume that they don’t feel any pain. “Animals have both physiological and behavioral responses to nociception that correlate roughly with the experience of pain in humans”. They cannot talk it doesn’t mean they don’t have emotion.

      Have you ever heard about the movie name “Hachi’s tale”? This is a movie about a dog waits for his owner for 10 years in train station after his owner die. This is a true story was filmed, and Japanese built a statue in Japan loyal to remember the loyalty of this dog. Through this example, we can see that animals still have emotion, it doesn’t show in the normal way like people usually present, but in their way. So that is so cruel when people treat to non-human in that way.

As what I mention and proofs above that the test pass on animal it doesn’t mean it will pass on human because the system of animals and people are not the same. Moreover, there are so many alternative ways that was approved to use to replace using animals in experimental. But widely the method testing on animals still be used. Animals are not our to eat, wear, experiment on, use for entertainment, or abuse in any other way, it is for us to love, to take care.
